StationPlaylist is Windows radio automation software that can broadcast your scheduled playlists and live shows to your internet radio station. This guide shows you how to live stream with StationPlaylist by adding an Icecast2 encoder that points at your RadioCult streaming server.

What is StationPlaylist?

StationPlaylist is radio automation software for Windows that runs locally on your machine. It handles automated playlists, content scheduling, voice tracking, and jingles, which makes it a popular choice for stations that want a hands-off, around-the-clock broadcast. It pairs naturally with RadioCult's own scheduling and automation for managing your programming.

Connecting StationPlaylist to your RadioCult station

StationPlaylist cannot send your username to RadioCult on its own, so you set the Encoder Username to source and place your real username in the Encoder Password field instead.

In the Encoder Password field, combine your username and streaming password with a vertical bar, in the format username|password. Your username is your RadioCult account login (your email address), and your streaming password is the unique password shown in the Connection details panel, which is separate from your account login password.

First, log in to RadioCult and open the Connection details panel on your Dashboard to copy the values you need. Then, in StationPlaylist:

  1. Add a new encoder, then double-click it to open its configuration.
  2. Enter the following settings:
    • Samplerate: 44100
    • Server Type: Icecast2
    • Server IP: your RadioCult Address (for example my-test-station.radiocult.fm)
    • Server Port: your RadioCult Port
    • Encoder Username: source
    • Encoder Password: your email, a vertical bar, then your password (for example user@gmail.com|ab672gd21r)
    • Mountpoint: your Mountpoint (for example /live)
  3. Click OK to save the configuration.

Going live

Click the Connect button in StationPlaylist's main window. Your station is now broadcasting live through RadioCult. Disconnect from the same button when you want to stop.

That is all it takes to stream StationPlaylist live. From here you can manage your shows and hosts with station and artist management, or see what's included on RadioCult's plans.
