Looking to estimate how much bandwidth your internet radio station needs? Use our handy calculator below to take some of the guess work out of calculating the total bandwith your online radio station is likely to use.

  • MB per listener per hour

    57.6

  • Listener hours

    36500

  • Total bandwidth

    2.01 TB

Calculate your streaming bandwidth usage by entering your stream's bitrate (kbps), average listeners per hour and your desired timeframe.

The calculator timeframe defaults to a month as this is the most common time period for your bandwidth to be measured by most online radio providers.

Bandwidth is one of the most expensive things when it comes to running a server so it's no wonder that most pricing plans limit how much you can use. Using the calculator above can help inform you when radio providers out there are being a bit tricksy!

You'll commonly see the rather confusing term "listening hours" used as a pricing metric by many online radio providers out there. Plans with 1000 listening hours seem quite generous glance at first glace. However, they really aren't, as the calculator shows. Just having 1 listener per hour eats up 730 listening hours a month.

Hopefully the calculator helps you to be more informed when making buying decisions on software and hosting providers for your internet radio station.

Here at Radio Cult we love independent and community radio so we thought we would whip up this tool to help you make better decisions with the right information!
